What is gnkvhdsm.sys ?

I found this process gnkvhdsm.sys in my system today, I googled gnkvhdsm.sys and I cant work out what the file is used for? The file is located @ windows/etc/drivers/gnkvhdsm.sys Im worried it could be a virus??

I searched google for gnkvhdsm.sys but it didnt bring up anything useful. Do you have local AV installed ?

Actually, the first result is for a 'blogspot' page that states it's a Windows Driver and not to delete it.

You shouldn't delete gnkvhdsm.sys as it is an important file!
I've NEVER seen this verbiage on any legitimate site analyzing a system file.

The remaining search results contain links in forums to this page.

I'm 99.99999% sure this is a virus and the author/perpetrator spammed the net with a link to a site he created stating that it's a safe application.

Boot into safe mode with networking, download MBAM (MalwareBytes Anti-Malware), update it to current signatures, and run it. If it doesn't identify the file as malicious, download a different AV software package and rescan. Here's a link to a site with plenty of different Virus removal packages.
