completely out of the blue (lol, no pun intended) a bluescreen bugcheck (0x1000008e, specifically 0xC0000005) occured during a WoW patch update on my other PC. The driver that apparently caused the error is listed as 'ntoskrnl.exe' which I know to be the Kernel Image. what can I do to iron out the cause of this/prevent it from re-ocurring?

In a command prompt type sfc /scannow and let it run. If there are any issues with the kernel that can sometimes take care of it.
