Ok, just wanted to know if this was possible. Utillizing old desktop CPU, buying RAM, Video Card, Motherboard/Soundcard. Along with a thin monitor. Putting them all together into one laptop with custom crafted metal, (Have a friend that works with metal well) buying a battery (Like a wall socket but portable) and putting it all together with CD drive to create a laptop. Dont care if its smarter to buy a laptop pre made/bare bones (but still go ahead and post) but want to know if its possible and what else i will need.

Been there, done that. Not a project for the faint of heart.
Note: I used parts from a totaled laptop. I thought about using desktop parts, but decided against it because they were large, power-hungry, and hot. If you use desktop parts, you'll have to compromise portability, battery life, or computing power. You simply cannot have all three.
