Just bought my son his first PC. It has a MCP61M-M3 motherboard in it.

I installed windows 7 from scratch ran all updates. It now freezes after being on for 1 hr.
Reboot..works for another hour.

No hard drive errors and sufficient fans

Decided to wipe machine and install windows XP. Ran all updates, updated bios, motherboard and all other drivers. Freezes after one hour.

Any suggestions?

Heat or power issue most likely. What are your motherboard & CPU temps? (Speccy.com is the software I use to check those things)

What kind of system is it? OEM (HP, Dell, etc) or did you build it yourself?

What kind of power supply is in it?

Um, yeah...

Go buy something that doesn't cost $20. Power supplies absolutely must be name brand, or you get... well, this kind of problem for one thing.

Even if you spent more money on the power supply, that particular model is plumb with issues just like yours, unfortunately.

Corsair, Seasonic, Antec or even Thermaltake would be better. From the looks of your system, even a 430 or 500 watt from one of these guys would be just fine.
