This is my first time building a PC. I had a friend give me some pointers in my selection for a gaming PC. I'd love to know if there are any compatibility issues that I missed or if there are better/cheaper alternatives to the parts I've chosen (or if there is anything missing for that matter). Also, should I buy a separate cooler and replace the stock one? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Looks like you got everything. I would get a different motherboard...one I found while planning a machine for myself, and asus of which the model number escapes me. Ghats preference though. As long as it supports the CPU and has the ports you need, go for it.

As for replacing the stock cooler, if you're going to overclock (and I assume you are since you're getting the K i7) then yes...if not, it's not necessary.

Ah, thanks for the reply. I was struggling to choose between the ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS, and the one listed above. After reading the reviews, I've noticed that the ASRock seemed to be more positively regarded whereas the Asus had a lot more mixed reviews which makes it rather difficult to make a decision.

I'm using an Asus board at work, no complaints. I've owned them in the past as well, should be fine. They're well known.
