First time build from scratch.....please help

Hi everyone I'm building a home/family PC. Lots of pics, music, videos, and web surfing. I wanted to stay between $500-$900.
 
Honestly? Just by a cheap Dell for those needs. Make sure you have at least a 1 Terrabyte Hard Drive for all that media. As for the monitor, buy the monitor separately from Newegg. Newegg.com - Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics, HDTVs, Digital Cameras and More! (not affiliated)

Pretty crummy advice. For the same cost of the dell, he could get better parts by building himself. We just need to know along the lines of what he's thinking as chipeater had asked.

Yea I was thinking that also but I was told that if ever want to edit video you need a good CPU and video card. I don't really do that but would like the ability to in the future. Just home movies and fight promo DVDs
