Engineering programs

Im getting a laptop soon for college and i was wondering if (Newegg.com - ASUS A53 Series A53SV-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i5 2410M(2.30GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory DDR3 1333 750GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M) should run engineering programs fine?

Im planning on either getting that laptop or stepping it up to Newegg.com - ASUS N53 Series N53SV-XV1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M w/ NVIDIA Optimus . any tips or suggestions on what i've found would be great

Depends on the programs you are going to use but yes, they should run fine.

They should run just fine. The pc's at my school have similar set ups and they run all autodesk programs fine.

Depending on the kind of engineering you are doing, you might find it better to find a laptop that has a quadro or FireGL card in it as they are designed for engineering. Otherwise, those do look good.
