can a 550w video over power 600w pcu

i have a 600w pcu and i want to put a 550w minimum graphic card in i have 8g dd3 ram,
amd phenom 6 core 3.3ghz and a 1T hard drive and a simple $24 DVD burner and reader.
is was wondering if the graphic card's wattage is to high and will not work or blue screen when im playing a game.

Do you mean 600 watt PSU (power supply unit)?

What video display adapter card are you referring to that is 550 watts minimum?

If the power supply requirements on the card state that, then I'd follow it, especially if it's a dual GPU card (like the high end nVidia and ATI units).
