So I'm getting some inheritance and am wanting to get a higher end gaming PC. Hoping some of you can put together a PC for around ~4000!

My main concerns are
1) Want to play games at max settings
2) Would prefer Intel over AMD
2) I don't really want to overclock...I'm worried about overheating
3) What cooling systems should I use?

The only thing I picked out is the Antec 1200 case, it looks pretty cool and seems like it'll do its job on the cooling front.

My budget is around $4000. Less is better, but I do want to have an enjoyable experience and Its free money.

Thanks alot for your help, I'm new to all of this (used to just buy all in ones)

I think I may have gone over your budget a bit but I got a little carried away lol if you wanna downgrade some stuff I can make it cheaper but this is the baddest PC you can build it will handle anything you can throw at it for years to come

wow, even one of those video cards would be enough, a $500 CPU would be enough, that saving over $1200 right there.

put the money in a bank! Get an XBOX. You'll be happy you listened to me when you're older.

Otherwise, do what they say above.

yea i got a bit carried away lmao but he wanted the best so thats about as good as it gets :)

If you aren't going to O'C may I suggest :Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-970 Gulftown 3.2GHz 6 x 256KB L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Six-Core Desktop Processor BX80613I7970

its only .2 GHZ decrease from the black, but 400$ cheaper.

Also may I suggest : Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory with Airflow Fan Model CMT8GX3M2A2000C9 - 10$ more opens up one slot of ram for you and is 2gbs more. ;)

For the cooler if you want something a little flasher, and seems to cool the CPU a lot : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...on&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction&Item=N82E16835103089

I'm not a fan of roswell.

And Finally: the blueray player isn't really support by good software and costs a ton (at least it did when I was looking at them) so I would just getting an DVD ROM that suits your needs and if you want blue-ray get it later.

I would seriously consider getting a sandybridge set up. For a number of reasons. You state that you want a gaming rig - the integrated PCIe controller over the N.Bridge used in the Gulftown has a notable effect on frame rates. The difference in real world tests between sandy bridge dual channel and gulftown tri-channel is a mixed bag. And also, no games will utilise 6 real cores, never mind 12 with hyperthreading. Get a Sandybridge based i7.

I personally wouldn't give Gulftown the time of day. For a home user, no matter how serious a gamer you are, Gulftown has no advantages over i7 sandybridge in gaming. Not $500+ worth anyway. And I think it's a dead platform.

Also, don't let this money burn a hole in your pocket. Take your time and have a serious think about it.

Sorry if I angered you, that was not my intention, but isn't Eyefinity exclusive to AMD/ATI graphics cards?
