I was origionally looking at unlocking a Sempron 150 for my next project, but after counting my dough, I can afford a muchh better cpu, anything on the AMD line, my questio is; the x4 975(3.6) or the x6 1100(3.3), more power or more cores? I can afford either one, the other specs:

Asus m4a785G-M (ddr2, am2/2+/3)
4gb mushkin ddr2 800 cl5
HD5770-xt
2x Cheetah T10 300gb
Win XP Pro SP3

Six cores at 3.3Ghz is going to get more work done in a give amount of time than a quad core at 3.6Ghz.

It depends entirely what you are going to be doing with your system. If your not going to be using a lot of multi-threaded programs (and very few multi-threaded apps can use 4, let alone 6 cores, anyway) then your better spending your money on other things and going for the higher clocked quad core. In real day to day use, your likely to see better performance from the faster clocked quad core than the slower clocked hex core.

That's my 2p.

Chris.
