Wanting to reduce the size of a png file

Ya'll need a graphics section.
At any rate I have this just massive png image sitting on a transparent background and want to scale it down to 500 x 150 and keep the transparent background. Irfanview doesn't keep the transparent background. So how do I do this?

Also FastStone is a lot better than IrfanView in my opinion: FastStone Photo Resizer - Powerful Image Converter/Resizer

Also you can try to edit the size of the image using online free websites. lot of free site available now for edit the size,format etc.

paint.net works well.

You can use Gimp, I use gimp all the time and it can do this no problems. + Gimp is free

yea, GIMP is nice. You can also do Paint.NET. Great little alternative, or any online image editing site like this one: Photo editor online - Pixlr.com edit image
