Ihave an asus laptop for a couple of years now andfor awhile its been crashing every now and then. it simply gets horizontal greeny/bluey lines and i have to manually shut it down.

since yesterday, it won't even get a minute in startup before it crashes.

It will run ok in safe mode though and doesnt crash.

ive tried system restore but it still wont work.

anyone gotany ideas?

keep it on a solid surface
clean the heat sink out
and keep comforters away at all times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

seriously i would really look at the heat sinks make sure that they are not full of dust and crap

thanks for your help. sorry to be so stupid, but what and where are the heatsinks and how do i get to them?

never said it would be easy, and its not stupid
if you look on the bottom of your lappy you will see some vents
those are the exits
so the heatsinks shouldnt be very far away from that
if you are uncomfortable opening up your lappy then take it to a PC store
and im not talking about the geek squad and the like
i mean a dedicated computer store
and see if they would do it for you

You mention that it runs fine in safe mode but not in normal mode so this suggests a driver issue, have you tried a sytem restore to an earlier time when it was working ok? You could also uninstall/reinstall your graphics drivers. Can you remember doing any updates etc before the issue started?
