Hey

Im able to connect to my network using ubuntu , but im not able to access the internet from any software..

Im able to connect and access through windows 7 on the same machine though

Thanks in advance! :)

Try opening up the Ubuntu menu and searching for "Additional Drivers" (without the quotes) and open the utility. See if there's any other drivers for your card.

you may have to re-install the drivers. Use the ndiswrapper to do this. It is a wrapper for Windows drivers. Wireless and Linux are a pain! Mine used to work and then gone. Just stopped for some reason.

Also a lot of times what happens is your HOST OS, must have WiFi enabled for the actual chip to be enabled. So if on your Dell, you have a button or switch somewhere to turn WiFi on:

  1. Log into Windows
  2. Turn the switch on, making sure you have a connection
  3. Log out and into Ubuntu

This worked for me a couple of times, and then THAT stopped working. Currently, I have no wifi on Ubuntu.... I'm sure its an easy fix, but I work on my desktop almost elusively at home, so I haven't bothered to look into it.
