Good Idea 6 Drive RAID 5?

Do you think it would be a good idea to run 6 of these drives in RAID-5?

~3492.31GB of usable space with 1 drive failure protection.

depends on how much storage you need mate, i run 4 drives on RAID5, you could go for RAID 6 and have 2 drives for redundancy, guess you need to weigh things up, storage over how much you need the files.

I was mostly concered with using poorly rated drives and if the RAID would make up for the risk.

never used hitachi drives mate, i personally use samsung drives, good price and never had a failure yet (currently running 11 of them)

the RAID should make up for the failure, but if your concerned then use RAID 6
