I'd have thought in base one 0+0+0+0 however many times you like still = 0, (not 0000). unless you're only using 0 as a symbol like if you could in tally you use the symbols 1 = 1 2 = 1 1 3 = 1 1 1 4 = 1 1 1 1 5 = -1-1-1-1- (there's no strike through, but you get what I mean) of course 1+1=11 in Roman numerals as well. as for using base 1 sensibly... I doubt that you can. even counting in tallied numbers is just a base 5 system really. (not base 1), I was just trying to describe symbols
