For about a month, my computer was intermittently running poorly, showing signs such as:
- Slow bootup (like 5 minutes)
- Programs freezing
- Windows freezing
Last week, my computer froze up and on reboot, ran chkdsk automatically. It found tons (hundreds?) of errors. After the errors were fixed, my computer ran much better.
So, today my computer started exhibiting the same signs, so I ran check disk again. Sure enough, it found errors, though not as many this time.
Aside from a hard drive going bad, what might be causing this?
My computer: Windows Vista, 3 GB RAM, Intel Core Duo quad core 2.x ghz.
