Math question (simple)

can I also say 1 + 1 = 11

(assuming I use base 1 instead of base 2)
Wouldn't it be 0 + 0 = 00? Though then again, that begs the question can you really have a base 1 sensibly? Interesting point.

I'd have thought in base one 0+0+0+0 however many times you like still = 0, (not 0000).

unless you're only using 0 as a symbol like if you could in tally you use the symbols
1 = 1
2 = 1 1
3 = 1 1 1
4 = 1 1 1 1
5 = -1-1-1-1-

(there's no strike through, but you get what I mean)

of course 1+1=11 in Roman numerals as well.

as for using base 1 sensibly...
I doubt that you can.

even counting in tallied numbers is just a base 5 system really. (not base 1), I was just trying to describe symbols

I think that the point of this thread may have been to show that we will happily discuss the most mundane & silly things... perhaps?
