spare hard-drive

I have a spare hard drive any suggestions of what i can do with it..not sure if I could make a portable hard drive out of it..but IM open to anything

You can buy external enclosures for hardrives, so yes you can turn it into an external drive! I'll be doing this with a couple of my spare 2.5" Laptop drives.

Do you think i could put my downloaded movies on it and carry it around and hook it up to a tv's usb port?

You could but each movie would have to be in the correct format for the TV, the format differs from tv to tv. Also depending on what type of hardrive you have, it might need to be plugged into the wall for power.
