I got my PC reformatted from virus infections. Now I need to install a reliable spyware protection for my PC. Should I use Avast or NOD32 Antivirus? I also make searches for new spyware programs and I found Atanium PC Spyware Protection 2011 at http://www.ataniumsoftware.com/products/pc-spyware-protection
Does anyone of you here tried using it? I think it's good but I need to know how effective it is in scanning and protecting my PC. Please help me.

I too agree with MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials), the interface is clear and if you don't have an internet connection at home, you can download manual updates from http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions /ADL.aspx (which are updated once in 3 days, not sure )
Its available for free from Microsoft for home users alone (its not free for others - like using in a company etc), but will run only on Original Windows versions.

my security suite is all free and as follows (prevx3 free, avg free, threatfire, zonealarm firewall (yes, its free!) all running. On the browser i have trusteer rapport (free) and bitdefender quick scan button. After nasty infections with so called all in one packages this i have found to be very secure. I also use eset online scan, threatexpert memory scanner and trend micro (or sometimes other online scans) on occasions to back up the protection on my computer. All above are top class against all threats.

MSE / AVG are both ok, I wouldn't really go as far as saying one is outright better than the other. I don't think MSE is quite as good with threat updates than AVG, but it's better at getting rid of them on the fly I find and it's more tightly integrated into windows too (though those kind of go hand in hand.) Seems pretty light on the resource front as well.

MSE and AVG are fine. I've just installed Atanium on my PC. I think it's good too. It doesn't affect my computer speed. However, I'm still watching on its performance since I've just newly installed it. :)
