Processer upgrade! help me choose?

well my comp is about four years old and i'v been mainly playing Battlefield 2, bfbc2, l4d2,css etc..
with these specs i can play all these games on high settings (except bfbc2)

i want to play Battlefield 3 with little lag

so i was looking at the
Intel core2 quad

my budget is under 250

whats a good upgrade for my processor? (intel)

well since you're on Socket 775, you have very few other options except the Core 2 Quad, since the Core 2 Duo was already pretty high up the chain in the Core 2 series. There are some pretty decent quad chips, but they can cost upward of 350USD.

Socket 775 is the socket type the processor uses. Only a 775 chip will fit in a 775 socket. its the way the pins are laid out in a specific way.
