My Computer Doesn't Like to Sleep

I have an HP "Media Center" PC (7330n). It's almost a year old. One thing I've always noticed is that it doesn't stay in stand by or hibernate mode. It will always wake up by itself. This kind of bugs me because I have a pretty nice LCD monitor and sometimes if I'm not paying attention the desktop image will stay up for hours, which isn't exactly good for the screen. Plus it would be nice to save a little power now and then.

Any ideas on why it won't stay 'asleep'?

Re: PC won't stay in 'stand by' mode

I posted my question a few weeks ago and didn't get any response. Anyone got any ideas for me on this?

As I said, I put my computer in stand by mode and a short time later it 'wakes up' by itself. Happens every time...kind of annoying.

I would try taking the mouse out and see if it makes a difference...I know some nights my mouse gets a bit weird and will trigger the screen saver at random intervals...if it's infared, make sure there are no hairs etc on the laser...

Recently i have done an upgrade (motherboard and RAM) after doing this upgrade i can no longer put my computer into sleep. The sleep starts to kick in and the computers fans stop. About half a second later the computer starts again and takes me to the login screen (it comes out of sleep).

I have un ticked the "enable this device to wake the computer" check box on the mice, keyboard and network devices and I have also in advanced power management disabled "allow programs to take the computer out of sleep mode". Still this keeps happening.

arsenalbates posted this about his problem, maybe u can get some info out of it, especially the second paragraph.
