HD Caviar Blacks fast?

I've just bought myself 2 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 64MB cache hard drives for use in my PC on RAID 1.

Just wondering though, I thought these drives were fast, and I researched them before hand a few weeks ago and thought they won in quite a few areas, so decided to go ahead with the purchase since I have a failing drive in my system right now.

Now I do research after buying them, and I get different feedback?

Anyone have any experience with these drives?

One came in my laptop and it seems to be slightly faster than the Seagate it replaced. Beyond laptops though, I've had no experience with them.

Ah okay, thanks celegorm.

I was going to opt for a Seagate, but I think most of the drives that have failed in my machine have been Seagates, and apparently the latest batch hasn't faired well.
