Motherboard and RAM compatibility?

Hi, I'm about to start building my first PC, and the last thing I need to do now is check that the RAM i've chosen is compatible with my MoBo

This is my MoBo:

Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard [GA-P55-USB3]

And I want 8Gb of RAM, so either

1) 2 of these

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX4GX3M2A1600C9]

2) or 4 of these

Corsair Value 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Single Channel Module (VS2GB1333D3) [VS2GB1333D3]

Please tell me which, if either, are compatible and if possible suggest an alternative 8Gb set that is compatible. Thanks very much.

That board doesn't appear to support 1600Mhz DDR3, as per the specs at Gigabyte, so if it came down to only those two choices, I'd go for the 1333Mhz ones.

However, since you are not maxing out the capacity of the board, I'd really recommend you get a 2 x 4GB kit so that you can add another 8GB later on.

Your Motherboard memory spec:

4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

You can get ram that has faster mhz than the motherboard requirements but the board will just read it at the highest mhz setting that board can read.
