Best nvidia gpu what dont need a power cable (6 pin from psu)

You can get a GT240 without a 6 pin power cable. It sits in between a 9600GT and a 9800GT performance wise

your psu must be old if it doesnt have a PCI-e power cable

ive never seen one in the last 2-3 years that doesnt have 6-pin power.

They are out there, unfortunately in the new system I've just bought, it doesn't have one (cheap PSU, replacement is on its way), it tends to be with older ones, cheaper ones, or ones with low wattage. A high quality, low wattage unit would easily power any video card that doesn't need a PCIe power connector, but if it doesn't have PCIe connectors because it is low quality, it would be best to swap it out first rather thn getting a new video card

I actually do have a good system, but my psu is a coolermaster 520w, and i am already running a hd5830. I want to run a dedicated physx card and i am guessing my psu wont be powerful enough to run my system + another graphics card, but it will be able to run a card that doesnt require a power supply. If it could run it, i would get a 9800gt.

whats the rest of your sytem specs you might be able to get away with a gts 250 or gts 450

In my system i have:

i7 930
HD5830
GA-X58A-UD3R
3 x 1 gb ocz 1600mhz ram
Corsair SSD
80GB Hard drive
DVD/CD drive
and about 4 fans
