Choosing my ram...

My setup will be:
Intel i7 930 OR maybe a 950 if Newegg still doesnt have any 930s
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58

Which ram would be the best to get?

G.Skill 12g 1333 (PC3 10666)

OR

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB 1600 (PC3 12800)

Neither. Get 6GB of reasonably priced RAM. The slight performance increase you'll get just doesn't justify the cost.

Personally i'd go with the 1600Mhz 6GB Corsair Dominators.

The i7's like 1600Mhz speeds and the Dominators are reliable modules.

Why not? Im building a gaming pc. And I have money to spend.

And I thought the Dominators would be better. just wasnt sure if having 12 gigs would be best.

12GB RAM is ok if your going to score video's/heavy audio editing/production. Otherwise 6GB is more than enough, for a gaming rig.

There is no reason you would need 12gb of ram, don't waste your money.

As was said, 6GB is plenty for gaming, however, I wouldn't take either of the sets you listed, 12GB is overkill, Corsair Dominator is very over priced, all you get is a fancy heatsink and "higher quality" chips than standard XMS3, the quality is so much better that stock performance is identical and overclocking is just as good on XMS 3as on the dominators...

But I would take neither the XMS3 nor the Dominators, I'd take G.Skill Ripjaws:

Much cheaper, same frequency, same timings and the quality is still excellent. So far as performance and overclockability, the same, often better than the Corsair
