Ok, so I bought some ram for my laptop, it dun work right, so I refunded it, and now Im looking on Newegg, and by golly, DDR2 will fit in a DDR slot.

Now my question is, does it actually work, because, if it does, it would be wonderous to have 3gb of ddr2 400mhz in my laptop.

DDR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145096

DDR2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104100

Not that speed would be a difference (133mhz CANT be much faster, same CAS), but 3gb would be nice.(or 8gb, not that a Athlon 64 might support that much xP)

BTW: WTF CAN I FIND ONE OF THESE? (sata - ide adapter for laptops)

DDR2 cannot fit in a DDR-based machine...the pin layout is different, so stick to DDR!

The image you've shown there is an adapter (I believe HP) that makes your SATA fit on the board equipped with a special connector. It's basically a SATA blug that you can unplug both from the laptop and the HDD. I don't believe there's an adpator for laptops, but for the desktops, yes.

It better be intense modding, as it will need a PSU, cable and lots of space ;)

PSU: The laptop already has one. Just tap into that.
Cable: Well, if I were doing it, I'd just use an old IDE ribbon cable and solder it on.
Space: It really won't need much. Most laptops have some large empty areas where the converter would fit.

It's not a mod I would recommend unless you know what you're doing, but if you do, it'd be pretty simple.
