My first post seems to have disappeared...

disabling system restore on your C Drive is a bad idea in general if you ever fubar the OS, you WILL be reinstalling it if there's a serious enough problem.

I don't use Ghost or anything like that anymore, I use a combination of Windows Home Server for live backups (daily, weekly, monthly) and BluRay for annual.

I've got Acronis True Image 11 that I haven't used yet. But that'd be my choice if needed.
