Was thinking about buying one and this is what I would put into. Are they worth the money? Staying with a laptop platform so I'll take any advice on to what is good thank you.

Alienware Command Center, M17x

Intel Core i7 840QM Quad Core Processor, 1.86GHz (3.20GHz Turbo Mode, 8M Cache)

6GB Memory (1x 2GB, 1x 4GB DDR3)

17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)

CrossfireX 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870

256GB SSD - Samsung Solid State Drive

Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 6300 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO Technology

Looks like a good setup. The price will dictate whether it is a good value or not. Try to find an equivalent setup in a different brand and see if the warranty is the same or better.

You can usually get a much better price from Asus. Laptops really aren't good gaming machines though, the best option is usually desktop for power, netbook for mobility.

its always cheaper to build your own desktop laptops are iffy ive had my asus for two years, and ran a lot on it, it is just now starting to be oudated, that looks like a great system from alienware, but i have to agree with gibson gaming is not meant for Laptops. stick with a desktop.

Asus typically makes a better machine for a lower price. Alienwares are usually overpriced...
