but what is the attraction to this Anime?
What makes it unique that so many flock to it.
It tells a story. Unlike coyote and road runner that is mindless entertainment, anime series and movies tell a story. Take Ghost in the shell. The life and times of a female cyborg that delves in to her life as well as her work. This series goes in to the characters as well as what they do. Its story deals with sex, politics, intrigue, government, and the world at large. It's not porn or hentai just real deep stories that will make you laugh, cry, but most of all they make you stop and think. They move your soul.
As for ones to watch, I think it's a matter of taste.
Ghost in the Shell (Graphic violence. Not for the munchkins.)
Cowboy Bebop (graphic violence. Again not for the munchkins. Like GitS, great story.)
Angel Beats! (Drag out your crying towel. Its last episode tells all and will have you in tears.)
Air (Another sad one. But it's an interesting story.)
Gundam00 (Action packed, fast moving storyline.)
Dirty Pair (Will have you in stitches most of the time. Does have some serious moments.)
Code Geass (Political intrigue.)
DearS (Well built women. Funny as hell with some serious social overtones.)
Hellsing (Odd story but if you like vampires and gouls, you'll love this one.)
The list goes on and one. What you like will be determine by hit and miss viewing. meaning you'll like some and some you won't.
Just a note here from my point of view. I didn't like how some of the series and the movies started out being off the path of the storyline I had heard or read about. But hanging in and watching the whole series and all of the movies I viewed proved to me that first impressions weren't always on the mark. To get the full effect of the story watch the whole thing.
