compaq v3000 problem

I've a compaq v3000 laptop,that when I turn it on, it turns of imidiatly after it shows the compaq sign in bios.
When I turn it on I see the fan spin and stop.
Mobo gone?
Pls need some help asap thanks
 
You will have to start unplugging hardware until you find the cause.
First check memory and use a wrist strap.
 
I had one computer (a desktop) that would do that. turned out, it was the processor. no way of testing that other than replacing it. I just happen to have a friend with the same one and the mobo actually would accept 2 types of processors. a celeron or Pentium 4.
the celeron died, put the P4 in it and it started up normally
 
OK I've open up the laptop, and found out dead insect on the motherboard near the cables that comes from the ac plug.
So I cleaned it and put the computer back together.
Turned it on and same problem.
I took the cmos battery out and the laptop battery and plug the power cord and the laptop turns on by it self and boot till the windows open.
But keyboard and mouse doesn't work.
So I turn it off, but only the battery in, it turns on and then off again.
Took the battery out, put the cmos battery in, turn it on, and then it turns off again.
