I was just wondering, if I buy a new router, can I use the old one as an access point? Its a DSL-2640R (my current one)

Cheers

An "access point" is what most routers do by default-allow devices to connect to the internet via wi-fi.
Perhaps you mean a bridge? A bridge is a device that bounces an already-existing wi-fi connection.

I also believe you mean bridge. A basic definition of the two:

Access Point - use a WIRED network connection to make a hot spot
Bridge - pick up a WIRELESS network and rebroadcast it to make a hot spot

I do believe that most routers can be turned into Bridges, I'm just not sure on the steps.
