I am trying to get the right equipment to get LAN party's going for about 30-40 people. I doint really know which is the best equipment for this kind of job as it needs to be fairly portable. Iv done LAN partys on smaller scales before (like 12-20 people) but never this many.
This is for my college club ( we like to play video games :D ) and would like to be able to get something for this. And finaly what makes one thing better than another for this kind of application?
Any suggestions?

Would something like this be what im looking fore? http://www.newegg.com/Product /Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122058 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817111031

Thx for the help everyone :)

That Netgear switch would be all you need! Depending on that games you are planning on playing, you may want to think about building a server..

Huh?

Something UCCS does out here is arranges LAN parties for the same reason as you, and they have a couple of multi port gigabit switches, but some users bring their own. Most geeks who are serious about LANs will have their own equipment, with plenty of capacity for those who aren't as serious or who are just starting out.

Don't overlook things like power or cooling either - a room full of performance or even just normal PCs for gaming will heat a room up FAST.
