Hey watsup up everyone.
Ill explain a little what im doing. My bro is a "hardcore" gamer, hes on many hours of the day.
His current setup is:
Pentium 4 HT 3.0Ghz
2GB RAM
Radeon X800XL
That is a obviously dated system but for HL2 mods its above average.
Anyhow now he is starting to experience the nasty company game "advancements" of today's gaming and even the games he ran flawlessly years ago are running with terrible fps. He is also starting to expand into newer games such as Bioshock 2 and so on. (x800 cannot even launch BS2 with no pixel shader)
So its obviously time for a upgrade, but as most in these days its on a budget. So we are looking to upgrade just the main components. This will be 4th pc i have built. I took a good couple hours looking through newegg.com and came out with what i can find the best for the money.
A few things to note *This build will be AMD, i have never built a rig with AMD. We just need the basics, motherboard, cpu, ram, video card and he needs a new case. The budget is capped at 280ish, probably no more then that, we cannot push it more* I chose AMD because from wha ti have heard, its the best on a small budget. Am i wrong? Intel is more expensive.
Below is my current build im debating on purchasing, but i thought since my lack of AMD experience and always want to be very sure it will all be compatible, i want to pass it by you guys here to help me maybe overlook some pro's/con's or incompatibility (or better deals?) that i missed.

Total: $290.79 (pushing our limit to max)
NOTE *this build wont be for a power gamer, we dont plan to overclock or expect a super machine, just a more up-to-date and noticeably faster machine for the mid gaming he does, we plan to eventually add more ram and upgrade the video card if needed*
