the pcs are non functional so sounds like the best bet is to destroy the data holding hardware, so what bits do i need to smash is it just the hdd or are there other things too please guys

Don't need to smash them. Simply take them apart and use the disks as lethal frisbees or something.

What OS are you using? If you have backed up the files proceed and initiate the command rmdir on what you want to delete. If you have something old like 98 or older you can use the command deltree (delete tree) to get rid of everything. If you need help doing this go to this website:

Deltree no longer exists on 2000 or older computers because of viruses that used the command to delete everything on your hard drive.
