Been looking to upgrade my old computer. I recently saved about 1k and want to invest in a good gaming computer and all around system. I was looking around and came up with these items. Not sure if all the parts will be synced and be a good match. So far I came up with these items. Any criticism is fine, really trying to build a great computer that will last a long time.

Case- $140

Blu-ray- $180

Dont know if I need it, I have a lot of movies over 100. Not sure if I would enjoy watching movies on a 20ish inch screen.

Open to any criticism. New to custom computer any help if really appreciated. Thank you

If i were you id spend 30 more dollars and buy the Intel i7 930 processor. I heard its better than the 920. Ive only delt with the 930 so i cant say its better than the 920 but the 930 is one hell of a processor. Im gonna go ahead and warn you the stock cooler aint worth a crap. The CM 212+ is what i have on mine and it keeps it idle around 27 degrees C at 3.0Ghz and full load with prime 95 no more than 52 degrees C. But of course it will vary from processor to processor. So i hope this help you a little.

Only consider the i7 920 if it's much cheaper than the i7 930 and you don't wish to overclock. Having said that, 30 seconds in the BIOS and your running the i7 920 at more than i7 930 speeds without a VCore increase. For extreme OC's though go for the i7 930. The only difference between the two is the stock Fq and from what i've seen the i7 930's OC a little further.

Thank guys. If I did go with the i7-930, What motherboard would you suggest? Trying to keep it under 1k. Can someone suggest the ultimate computer I can build from a 1K budget? And what is overclocking? Will be using this for gaming but nothing too crazy maybe SC2 and for D3 when it comes out.

I haven't done the maths but go for either the Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R or Asus' P6X58D-E. They are both great boards. Overclocking is pretty much upping the clock speed of the CPU, GPU or chipset to enhance performance and the i7 series chips are pretty easy to OC. However the i7 is pretty good as stock, anything else is a bonus.

Yeah what he said!! I have the Asus P6X58D-E board and its easy to OC with and its is a good all round board. But of course it your choice of which one you want.

Yeah I was just looking at it. Just reading reviews on it and check out spec now. So far I know I'm getting the Case/ HAF932, Processer/i7-930, Motherboard/ Asus p6x58d-e. Which cooler would you suggest that works well with this system and will not kill my budget? I only have around 300ish to spend. I can spend a little more but I still need a lot of other parts. Thanks guys

well the Cooler Master 212+ works wonders for me it keeps my 930 OC to 3.0Ghz right around 27 degrees C and no more than 52 Degrees C at 100% usage using prime95. but i have heard the CM V8 is a good one too, but ive only used the stock cooler and the CM 212+ cooler and stock aint worth a dang the 930 idled around 49 - 51 degrees C and toped out around 84 degrees playing runescape. Now it stay around no more than 46 degrees playing runescape. Oh yeah the CM hAF-932 is a really good case, i have it in the blue LEDs.

The CM 212 is cheaper then the one I wanted to get. Still reading around trying to find a good cooler. Both will work with the i7-930?

If you are going with a 1366 slot chip like the i7-930 or 920 you'd be better off getting a triple channel set of memory than the dual channel.
