And yes, it will fit, but you might need to set the speed manually in the BIOS.

haha awesome thanks for the info guys I appreciate it, its been a while since I made a ground up build. the last time i did that the AMD athlon 64 single cores was the way to go

They still are. It's pathetic really, the core i7's can't even hold a candle to the athlon 64's. It's like AMD got a monolith from space or something....
