It is possible to install a HD 4870 graphics card into a DELL Inspiron 530. I have just done it. Here is what I had to do:
Move the hard drive to a different location
Use a tin snips and pliers to cut out the back of the case a bit
Move the SATA connectors from the Optical drive and hard drive that connect to the motherboard to different locations
Shave off a bit of the connector clips to one of the RAM sticks
Use a power drill to create a new screw hole for the card
Use a pliers to bend the metal around where the monitor connects to the card
Considering it's the first thing I've done with the computer it's pretty good. I also installed a 530 watt power supply last week but that was easy compared to this.
