The way I see it is if you want one now get one now since technology is always going to improve and if you hold off there will always be something better come out a few months later no matter what.
I sort of regret buying mine when I did since I didn't get into college when I wanted to and now 2 years later I am going to college in september but my laptop's battery is already starting to show signs of wearing out. I should have bought a netbook back in 2008 and used that while on the go and just waited until this year and bought a laptop. Its just I really wanted a laptop so I rushed and bought in in may 2008 even before I started enrolling which was a bad move
