I have a Dell Inspiron 5100-PP07L. CPU fan spins for about 2 seconds when it is turned on then stops. Sometimes it comes back on for a short time. The laptop will overheat in about 5 minutes of use. I put it in front of an air conditioner and it did not overheat.
Should I buy a new fan for the CPU? Since the fan does spin sometimes, and I have cleaned every spec of dust out of it, maybe the problem lies with the controller on the mobo. Fan is $12, worth a try or not?
