Good setup for new rig?

You could get a 24" monitor from newegg for $190 or so, but of course it wouldn't be a touchscreen.

Touch screen may not be necessary. It depends on what you're doing really. For gaming, you'd want to go with a bigger screen rather than a touch screen.

Not only will this rig im building be used now, for gaming, but it will be used for when I go to college, which i'll be going to an art school for photography and graphic design. I think the touch screen monitor is awesome. And it comes with the printer for 60 bucks. The only thing im worried about is its optimal resolution is 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz. Do you think 60Hz is too little?

The WD Caviar Black is probably one of the fastest HDDs short of buying a Raptor or a SSD. For gaming, you definitely want to go with a monitor rather than a TV. Since you're spending big bucks on the monitor, I recommend you buy one with a 120Hz refresh rate so you're ready for 3D gaming. As far as a CPU cooler, I highly recommend the Noctua NH-U12P; heard great things about it.

You could get a megahalem or venemous-x for that price, both of those blow the noctua away. I'd go with the Hyper N 520. I know that one of the guys on this forum got to 4.2 GHz with it.

Oh wow. The reviews are a lot better for that CPU cooler. Ill definitely get one of those instead. Now im just stuck on the monitor.

1st one is $200 and the touch screen is $309 or $370 with the printer.

Also, the RAM I wanted to use isn't compatible with the i7 processor. On the Intel site, it says the i7 isn't designed for RAM above 1066. Im looking for a new 6gig set of ram sticks and a new power supply since the RAM and power supply were in a combo.

Edit: Found a few people on these forums, and on youtube that have the same motherboard, and an i7 930 that use this Ram set, so I think i'll settle with them:

As someone that went to college for photography the touch screen is over rated. I found that a Wacom tablet with a pen is much more useful than a touch screen for photo and graphic work. The Wacom Cintiq is a really nice touch monitor and will be hand over fist better and more accurate then typical touch screens. The down side is price.

Yes the Cintiq is very expensive but if you want to go with a touch screen that is for graphic and photo work thats the one to do it with because its going to be far more accurate then something that isn't designed for such tasks. I like the Tablet its more natural feeling then using a mouse for that kind of work.
