I didn't look at either, but I can tell you that if I were to buy a computer, I wouldn't touch Acer with a 10 foot pole. That's my personal opinion. I've seen nothing but junk from them.

Use a gateway, then give us your opinion again

I've used plenty of Gateways. I've personally had no hardware problems with any. The build quality always seems to be pretty decent. I mean, don't get me wrong...there are other brands I'd buy before Gateway, but they aren't at the bottom of my list like Acer and Dell.
