Hard Drive Formatting Issue

Hey i've been trying to format my hard drive and it keeps getting stuck at 54%.I go to disk management to format my hard drive and it just gets stuck at 54%.When i try to do it using quick format it just fails.


Operating System-Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition 64-bit
CPU-AMD Phenom 9150e Quad-core Processor 1800 MHz
Ram-4 Gb
Hard Drive in question-Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 2 TB Internal - 300 MBps - 7200 rpm

It said "The disk check could not be performed
because Windows cannot access the disk."What do i do the fix that?

Check to make sure that the SATA controller in your BIOS set to IDE mode and not RAID.

Is it possible to check it without restarting my computer and going into my BIOS?

Hey later that day i restarted my computer and tried error checking again but then it wouldn't let me do it because my hard drive isn't formatted.My issue is i can't format it hahaha.

download something called hiren . 10.4 is the new one make a cd and boot of the cd, do a hdd regen. probably bad sectors mate

Get the brand name and model off the sticker on the hard drive. Go to the maker's web site and get the formatting/checking software.

With what AR said not working, this is your best bet. The software is free and designed to work with/specifically test your drive.
