Would this be a decent gaming computer?

I know this isn't the greatest for gaming but what do you think the gaming (frames per second) would be like for me if i use this computer

Dell Precision 370
3 GB ram
3.6 GHz processor
500 GB HDD
Nvidia 8800 gts (probably going to upgrade)

That's not too bad really. It could even handle Crysis at medium settings.

whats the difference between a Nvidia Geforce 8800 and a Nvidia Quadro FX video card?

The Quadro FX is a workstation card designed for graphics programming and creation. Not the best at gaming, but they work wonders with CAD programs.

I would suggest either XP or Windows 7. The real advantage with W7 is running the newer DirectX 10 and DX 11 capable games with the proper video cards.

And For my setup i mentioned above what would you think my sytem would get better framerates on? (operating system)

I couldn't tell ya how much memory is on the video card. They average 512mb. It depends on the card.

With that setup, XP is all you need.
