I have gone from looking for a lappie to speed through my games, to one that is price sufficient and lasts a long time, but lookin gon ebay, I see P3's Cost less, but opon looking it up, the minimum specs are 1.7ghz, so I look up the 1.7 and the P3, here are the quite stunnin gresults:

Pentium 3 Mobile Fammily 1.13Ghz: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+III+Mobile+1133MHz

Pentium 4 1.7Ghz (as Specified in Gmod Requirments): http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+4+1.70GHz

Well, does this mean, If i Save $40 on this computer( http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-T2...ViewItem&pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item4aa1ab8111) , that I can play Gmod just as well?

- Don't worry about the ram, I know my way around these "obsticals"...

The CPU isn't your primary concern, the video card is. I can almost guarantee that laptop doesn't have a gpu capable of running the source engine.

As I see, the video depends on the model, but accordingly, here is what they are:

933mhz- models: S3 SuperSavage
1024- 1280mhz: Nvidea Geforce 3 Series
1300-1400mhz: Radeon All-in-wonder 200M

I am buyin gthe 1013mhz series, but My experience with my *last computer* has told me even that a high end intel can be overrun by the simplest of PCI video cards...

Most importantly, unlike the lappie I ussually Borrow now, this one has more thn 0 mb of V-ram. 16mb, to be exact... So, If my Gateway can run gmod, this should be able to, I hope this settles that part...

another cool thing, is that I can upgrade to 1 gb ram, which is a must have for XP Pro, But I think I'll re- install 2000 for a faster gaming experiene, since 200 requires a 100mhz, and XP requires a 500mhz, It will most certinly be faster, and, 2000 is still supported by Steam... Win-Win?

Why on earth are you gonna buy such an old pos laptop? Save up some money and buy something decent.

I got a 2.2 GHz P4M laptop on eBay for $65 a while back, so I know there won't be too much of a price difference.

Agreed. These specs are absolutely ancient, even for a laptop.

Case is cracked
No AC power adaptor

That's in rough shape. Keep looking. Why do you want an old POS P3? If you shop around you can find used core2duo for cheap.

Not to get off subject, but I have found a source of $180 laptops that I want, the thing is, I spent my $100 on, well, its none of your buisness what I spend my money on, but it wasn't computer related. I have $31 noow, but I can get to around $70 quickly, I have my priorities shifted based 1 week ahead of what I can ge tmy hands on, I can probably afford somthing like this in 4 weeks: http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-T4...ViewItem&pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item5192e966e1

Edit; But as you see, this listin gprobably doesn't last 4 weeks...

core duo was another thing I was looking at, maybe a T60 with a X1300, instead of some nooby intel chipset, except, If I get a T60, It will most certainly be more powerful than my desktop!!!
