So I installed the CPU in the socket and the heatsink on top of that and realize this is only an AM2+ socket and I want Stictly Am3. But the heatsink is locked on top of the CPU. So I unlock it and its stuck on.

How do I take it off with out hurting it?

Also, looking for a good midrange board to work with a Phenom 965, and DDr3 Hyperx 1333

How is this one?

Maybe I should just go all out and get a 890 series.

But I think for the sake of not needed all the extra crap I will stick with the 790 series.

Try gently twisting it from side to side to break the seal. If it really doesn't want to budge, try getting some amount of 90% or greater isopropyl alcohol and that will dissolve the thermal paste. That is, assuming it is in fact normal thermal paste and not some sort of ceramique, correct?

I honestly dont know. But it doesnt matter, the twist worked great.

Thanks, lol.

I shoulda googled but I was kinda in a frenzy.
