5770 or 4890

5770. It is better price/performance at $150, has dx11, better crossfirex scaling, lower tdp, lower heat, better overclocking (if yours has vGPU control), openCL, a true onboard sound controller, better video playback/decoding, openGL 4, is more reliable, and is more futureproof (in case you wanna Xfire later on...)

the 4890 only has higher framerates, and not by a lot on newer drivers.

so current benchmarks of 4890 > 5770 is not necessarily true in real life applications?

what about 260 core 216. It also shows an average higher benchmark

All benches you will find are on old drivers. There have been huge increases in performance since then.

I would not even consider the gtx 260 nowadays. The price has not moved since the new serieses (?) of cards, it should be about $150 max imo.

Just get a 5770 and you will definitely be happy with it.

im actually doing build for friend. his budget about a grand +/-100$

would you say its worth it to spend an extra 70 - 100 for a 58xx series?
