What resolution do you have? You need more than 2560x1600 for 2GB to be any better than 1GB on the 5870.

That said, go 5850 flashed to 5870 BIOS. It will save you tons of money, and perform very close to a 5870.

Gtx 275 is not nearly as good as the 5870.

Visiontek or Diamond HD 5850 1GB.

They stick to reference models, so it is possible to flash them to a 5870 bios, and there is soft vcore control.

yes. What chipset do you have? X58 I assume?

The reason I ask is because some intel chipsets are not crossfireX compatible, so you would no be able to put a second card in later.

the most important question that has yet to be answered is what res will you be playing at...? if you're playing at 1440x900, the 275 would be just about perfect and the higher end cards will just be overkill...

well my mobo is an ASUS P6x58D-E xtreme design
It supports a 3-way SLI so if i cant do the crossfireX i could always run two or three geforce type cards

...that has no relation to the resolution. For example, my resolution is 1920x1080.
