installs same updates every time I shut down

First time here, I know very little about computers.

Every time i shut down my computer, windows installs 6 updates. Its been going on for about 2 weeks. I thought is was normal because i don't shut down very often(I work days, wife works nights so it always on). I play World of Warcraft and now it has to install a recent patch every time i try it play,

Is this a virus? Like i said I know nothing about computers.

i have windows XP.

Get Mallwarebytes and run it, it will tell you if you have problems and will fix it....
google the free version offf the net.

I have had that problem but with a vista. everyday I went to turn off the computer the little sheild thing would still be there and didnt even install the updates but it has gone now.....
