Crackling Speaker Problem! [Help please]

Recently when plugging in USB devices I get a really loud crackling noise if any sound comes from my speakers.
Also if my Laptop is unplugged and I do not have my power settings set to 'Power Saver' and set to Balenced or High Performance I get the same crackling noise. I am unsure if this is a Hardware or Software problem.

I have a Sony Vaio and my Sound Driver is up-to-date.

Help will be appreciated.

could be dust interfering with the signal, try cleaning the jack (just a blow or cloth could do it), I had a similar problem but not when plugging into the jack, and it was a sound driver issue but thats all i can do to help for now
