Y'know what really grinds my gears thread

yes, i've stopped using firefox.

it was just taking up too much resource on my machine, thrashing the CPU taking up far too much memory. so now I'm reluctantly back in IE...

my spelling is atrocious, usually the built in firefox spell checker would have noted that mistake for me. -and yes, that is the only way that I've had good posts in the past that are free from spelling errors.

got to find a spell checker for IE now.
Just wondering, how much memory do you have? Firefox works just fine for me but I do understand where your coming from. Not many people are running such a slim setup like me. Windows XP 64-bit with 4gb of RAM and minimal stuff running in the background.

I always found IE to be quite a resource hog on my older / less powerful machines but firefox really starts eating up large amounts of ram and cpu when watching flash based video or really anything flash based. when I had some tabs open with youtube videos to load in the background and grooveshark firefox shot up to using 400mb ram and 70% cpu.

It is a good idea to check and see what addons are running in firefox. Programs like to sneak them in during installation and it can really add up.

Back when I had a netbook IE was a huge problem because I have bad eyesight so I had it zoomed in a fair bit and it resulted it quite a bit of page tearing.

OMG OMG OMG friggin unblockable MSN bots! I didn't even add these people but they are obviously bots and every time I try and block them it just says unable to block this contact please try again later. And every time I sign in to this one particular msn account I immediately get bombarded by add contact requests from obvious bots. I test blocked someone I knew and it worked fine.

What has really been grinding my gears lately is when you are downloading a 2+ gb torrent and it gets down to like 30mb left and just stops because there are no seeds anymore.....like 99% done.......argh!

1.5GB, 1.8 single core pentium M processor.

(Work laptop), I might just request a new laptop cause this ones a little old and past it now...

but I doubt that I'll be going back to firefox unless it's for a specialist task.

I've had isues in the past with memory usage, seriously, I've had firefox, with five tabs open using over 1GB of memory on it's own!

after I installed the latest version I found that memory use was fairly constant at between 300 - 400 MB, but processor use would just go through the roof...

if just a browser FFS. I miss the spell checker, but so far IE8 has been pretty good, takes less resources, but to be honest, if I need to do something that I'd previously got a plug in for, I can go back to firefox, I do get annoyed at the little differences the stop button, refresh etc have all moved,

one thing that I am liking is being able to go back to pressing alt + s to submit a post. (I'm a bit fan of keyboard shortcuts).

Oh I wouldn't blame you then. IE8 isn't that bad at all. Firefox has always been notorious for it's memory leaks.

Y'know what really grinds my gears?

Radioshack. I just spent an hour there searching their remaining supply of electronic components, to find that they have ICs but no IC sockets, and crazy stuff like that. I ended up spending $90 and I have to order parts. WTF is this?

Another thing that grinds my gears...when people talk like this:

"I can't givew all my lovew to you sincew you arew not herew at thew moment...I lovew you baby..."

Okay...why, WHY the F'ing Ws after each word ending with E? That just sound silly...and personally, I find it annoying as crap....I'll rip out the freaking W out of their keyboards!
